High Performance Materials in Aerospace
Harvey M. Flower, "High Performance Materials in Aerospace"
English | 1995 | pages: 392 | ISBN: 0412533502, 9401042969 | PDF | 22,9 mb
Aerospace presents an extremely challenging environment for structural materials and the development of new, or improved, materials: processes for material and for component production are the subject of continuous research activity. It is in the nature of high performance materials that the steps of material and of component production should not be considered in isolation from one another. Indeed, in some cases, the very process of material production may also incorporate part or all of the component production itself and, at the very least, will influence the choice of material/component production method to be employed. How ever, the developments currently taking place are to be discovered largely within the confines of specialist conferences or books each dedicated to perhaps a single element of the overall process. In this book contributors, experts drawn from both academia and the aerospace industry, have joined together to combine their individual knowledge to examine high performance aerospace materials in terms of their production, structure, properties and applications. The central interrelationships between the development of structure through the production route and between structure and the properties exhibited in the final component are considered. It is hoped that the book will be of interest to students of aeronautical engineering and of materials science, together with those working within the aerospace industry. Harvey M. High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering ' 08
High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering ' 08: Transactions of the High Performance Computing Center, Stuttgart by Wolfgang E. Nagel
English | 2009 | ISBN: 3540883010 | 613 Pages | PDF | 29.2 MB
The discussions and plans on all scientific, advisory, and political levels to realize an even larger "European Supercomputer" in Germany, where the hardware costs alone will be hundreds of millions Euro - much more than in the past - are getting closer to realization. As part of the strategy, the three national supercomputing centres HLRS (Stuttgart), NIC/JSC (Julich) and LRZ (Munich) have formed the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS) as a new virtual organization enabled by an agreement between the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the state ministries for research of Baden-Wurttemberg, Bayern, and Nordrhein-Westfalen. Already today, the GCS provides the most powerful high-performance computing - frastructure in Europe. Through GCS, HLRS participates in the European project PRACE (Partnership for Advances Computing in Europe) and - tends its reach to all European member countries. These activities aligns well with the activities of HLRS in the European HPC infrastructure project DEISA (Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Appli- tions) and in the European HPC support project HPC-Europa. Beyond that, HLRS and its partners in the GCS have agreed on a common strategy for the installation of the next generation of leading edge HPC hardware over the next five years. The University of Stuttgart and the University of Karlsruhe have furth- more agreed to bundle their competences and resources.

Heterarchy in World Politics
Heterarchy in World Politics (Innovations in International Affairs) by Philip G. Cerny
2023 | ISBN: 1032403411, 1032398752 | English | 232 pages | PDF | 2 MB
Heterarchy in World Politics challenges the fundamental framing of international relations and world politics. IR theory has always been dominated by the presumption that world politics is, at its core, a system of states. However, this has always been problematic, challengeable, time-bound, and increasingly anachronistic.

Herman Melville Modernity and the Material Text
Katie McGettigan, "Herman Melville: Modernity and the Material Text"
English | 2017 | ISBN: 1512601373 | PDF | pages: 298 | 6.3 mb
In this imaginative book, Katie McGettigan argues that Melville's novels and poetry demonstrate a sustained engagement with the physical, social, and economic materiality of industrial and commercial forms of print. Further, she shows that this "aesthetics of the material text," central both to Melville's stylistic signature and to his innovations in form, allows Melville to explore the production of selfhood, test the limits of narrative authenticity, and question the nature of artistic originality.
